Kelly-Call Thanksgiving Bash

This year for Thanksgiving we had a special treat.
We got to spend it with both of our families.

Thanksgiving came at a really busy time for Dustin and me this year.
I was in my surgical rotation, and it was 3 days before Dustin started his finals.
So we decided that we would stay put and not go up to Utah to spend it with the Call's.
We were super sad but we just didnt have the time off.

So instead we came up with this great
plan, we had the Calls come down to Vegas and spend it with my family.
Half of them stayed at my house, and the other at my parents.
It was seriously the best of both worlds.
I mean how lucky are we that our families are such good friends.
We already started planning for the next holiday that we need to spend together.
It was so much fun spending time with the people that we love most.
The Calls hadn't seen our house yet so it was also a great excuse for them to come down.

Lucky for me, my surgeons gave me the day off and I was able to spend it with my family.
The weekend was filled with craziness, food, more food, Risk, Halo, hiking,
and enjoying the beautiful Las Vegas weather.
They only sad part was Dust could only spend Thanksgiving day with us.
The other couple of days he had to spend studying.
But we made the best of it.

It was so much fun being with both of our Families.
We love them so much and are so grateful for all that they do for us.

Sadly, it was so crazy that we only took one picture of us hiking. lol

Marathon

Running a Marathon has been on my bucketlist for quite a while.
The last couple of months have been a blast training for this event.
I  loved being outside and pushing my body to it's limits.
I loved the early morning runs and watching the sun rise.

The actual race was not what we expected at all.
It was a Free Marathon.
We signed up for it because it fit into our crazy schedule and it was in town.
But let me tell you I will never run a free marathon again.

There was no food along the way and they ran out of water cups.
We had to lift a gallon water and pass it around to get some.
I also didnt pack enough food to last me through the race
I ended up hitting the wall the last three miles and felt super sick.
And we actually ran 26.6 instead of 26.2.
And let me tell you that extra distance really makes a difference in the end.

But I am still glad that we did it.
Now that we got this monkey off of our back, now it's time to train for bigger and better things.
I am thinking a triatholon next, and an Iron Man for Dust.

I am so glad that I got to share this special day with my wonderful husband.
It was so much fun running our first one together.

Houston

I have been dying to get down to Houston for the last year.
Two of my favorite poeple in the world live down there.
My cousin Abbie and her amazing family,
and my best friends Kina and Kyle and their brand new baby, James.
I was dying to meet this little guy.

So when I found out I had a week off of school I decided that I had to go down.
I told my mom that I really wanted to go and she didnt want to miss out
on the fun so she and my Grandmy Whipple came along too.
It was a three generation Whipple trip.

It was so much fun traveling down and spending time with the two
women that I look up to most.
I love the strong bond that the women in my family share.

We stayed at Abbie's house.
It was seriously the cutest thing I have ever seen.
I walked in and was like this is exactly how I want to decorate my house.
(so this trip came at the perfect time because that is exatly
what I am trying to do at the moment)
She gave me some great ideas on things to do around the house.

We had so much fun spending time with Abbie and her two cute kids, Jake, and Jenna.
We were sad that we didnt get to see much of her husband, Lee,
because he is in his second year of
Surgical Residency and keeps a crazy schedule.

We ate at some great restuarants, did some shopping,
went to their ward trunk or treat,
went on some amazing runs,
and mostly stayed up late just chatting.
I loved getting to know my little cousins better.
They are so dang cute and seeing them in their
Halloween costumes just melted my heart.

It was also so much fun to hear about my Uncle Elwin (Abbie's Dad)
who passed away 16 years ago.
I didnt get to know him well so I loved all of the stories that my mom and grandma told.
I felt like I got to know him better through this trip.
It was a little piece of heaven.

I also Loved seeing Kina!
Kina is my Kristina Yang (from Grey's Anatomy)
She is just my person.
Met her in college and have been best friends ever since.
I wouldn't be in PA school or the person that I am today without her.

So I was so excited to meet her little baby.
Kina is such a Rockstar
Her and her husband are in their second year of Medical school
at UT Houston and she just had a baby,
and they are both top of their class.
She makes life look so easy.

I couldnt get enough of baby James
He is so sweet.
The perfect mix of Kina and Kyle
I just feel like I love this little guys so much,
and I only got to spend 2 days with him.
It made me so excited for motherhood.

I LOVED Houston.
Well I didnt love the Humidity at all but other then that it was great.
I loved all the nice suburbs and I loved the Medical Center.
It was insane.
There was seriously 16 hospitals on one street.
I just loved the medical vibe going on !!!

It was a fabolous trip and
I hope I can go back again soon.

Family Weekend

It was such a fun treat to have my sister, brother, and brother-in-law come home for the weekend.
Any time I can have my whole family together it's a little piece of heaven.

It was a jam packed weekend full of fun.
I finished my last final.
Took Family Christmas pictures.
Went to Grimaldis for Kaitlins birthday dinner.
Cheered on Dust in his first triatholon (He is such a stud)

Watched some great football
Went to one of our families best friends weddings.
And just chilled with the family.

It was the perfect way to wrap up my didactic year.
I loved being able to celebrate with the people I love.
