Kelly-Call Thanksgiving Bash

This year for Thanksgiving we had a special treat.
We got to spend it with both of our families.

Thanksgiving came at a really busy time for Dustin and me this year.
I was in my surgical rotation, and it was 3 days before Dustin started his finals.
So we decided that we would stay put and not go up to Utah to spend it with the Call's.
We were super sad but we just didnt have the time off.

So instead we came up with this great
plan, we had the Calls come down to Vegas and spend it with my family.
Half of them stayed at my house, and the other at my parents.
It was seriously the best of both worlds.
I mean how lucky are we that our families are such good friends.
We already started planning for the next holiday that we need to spend together.
It was so much fun spending time with the people that we love most.
The Calls hadn't seen our house yet so it was also a great excuse for them to come down.

Lucky for me, my surgeons gave me the day off and I was able to spend it with my family.
The weekend was filled with craziness, food, more food, Risk, Halo, hiking,
and enjoying the beautiful Las Vegas weather.
They only sad part was Dust could only spend Thanksgiving day with us.
The other couple of days he had to spend studying.
But we made the best of it.

It was so much fun being with both of our Families.
We love them so much and are so grateful for all that they do for us.

Sadly, it was so crazy that we only took one picture of us hiking. lol

Marathon

Running a Marathon has been on my bucketlist for quite a while.
The last couple of months have been a blast training for this event.
I  loved being outside and pushing my body to it's limits.
I loved the early morning runs and watching the sun rise.

The actual race was not what we expected at all.
It was a Free Marathon.
We signed up for it because it fit into our crazy schedule and it was in town.
But let me tell you I will never run a free marathon again.

There was no food along the way and they ran out of water cups.
We had to lift a gallon water and pass it around to get some.
I also didnt pack enough food to last me through the race
I ended up hitting the wall the last three miles and felt super sick.
And we actually ran 26.6 instead of 26.2.
And let me tell you that extra distance really makes a difference in the end.

But I am still glad that we did it.
Now that we got this monkey off of our back, now it's time to train for bigger and better things.
I am thinking a triatholon next, and an Iron Man for Dust.

I am so glad that I got to share this special day with my wonderful husband.
It was so much fun running our first one together.

Houston

I have been dying to get down to Houston for the last year.
Two of my favorite poeple in the world live down there.
My cousin Abbie and her amazing family,
and my best friends Kina and Kyle and their brand new baby, James.
I was dying to meet this little guy.

So when I found out I had a week off of school I decided that I had to go down.
I told my mom that I really wanted to go and she didnt want to miss out
on the fun so she and my Grandmy Whipple came along too.
It was a three generation Whipple trip.

It was so much fun traveling down and spending time with the two
women that I look up to most.
I love the strong bond that the women in my family share.

We stayed at Abbie's house.
It was seriously the cutest thing I have ever seen.
I walked in and was like this is exactly how I want to decorate my house.
(so this trip came at the perfect time because that is exatly
what I am trying to do at the moment)
She gave me some great ideas on things to do around the house.

We had so much fun spending time with Abbie and her two cute kids, Jake, and Jenna.
We were sad that we didnt get to see much of her husband, Lee,
because he is in his second year of
Surgical Residency and keeps a crazy schedule.

We ate at some great restuarants, did some shopping,
went to their ward trunk or treat,
went on some amazing runs,
and mostly stayed up late just chatting.
I loved getting to know my little cousins better.
They are so dang cute and seeing them in their
Halloween costumes just melted my heart.

It was also so much fun to hear about my Uncle Elwin (Abbie's Dad)
who passed away 16 years ago.
I didnt get to know him well so I loved all of the stories that my mom and grandma told.
I felt like I got to know him better through this trip.
It was a little piece of heaven.

I also Loved seeing Kina!
Kina is my Kristina Yang (from Grey's Anatomy)
She is just my person.
Met her in college and have been best friends ever since.
I wouldn't be in PA school or the person that I am today without her.

So I was so excited to meet her little baby.
Kina is such a Rockstar
Her and her husband are in their second year of Medical school
at UT Houston and she just had a baby,
and they are both top of their class.
She makes life look so easy.

I couldnt get enough of baby James
He is so sweet.
The perfect mix of Kina and Kyle
I just feel like I love this little guys so much,
and I only got to spend 2 days with him.
It made me so excited for motherhood.

I LOVED Houston.
Well I didnt love the Humidity at all but other then that it was great.
I loved all the nice suburbs and I loved the Medical Center.
It was insane.
There was seriously 16 hospitals on one street.
I just loved the medical vibe going on !!!

It was a fabolous trip and
I hope I can go back again soon.

Family Weekend

It was such a fun treat to have my sister, brother, and brother-in-law come home for the weekend.
Any time I can have my whole family together it's a little piece of heaven.

It was a jam packed weekend full of fun.
I finished my last final.
Took Family Christmas pictures.
Went to Grimaldis for Kaitlins birthday dinner.
Cheered on Dust in his first triatholon (He is such a stud)

Watched some great football
Went to one of our families best friends weddings.
And just chilled with the family.

It was the perfect way to wrap up my didactic year.
I loved being able to celebrate with the people I love.

End of My Didactic Year

I cant believe that I have finished my didactic year.
I didn’t think this day would come so fast.
The last 16 months have seriously been a whirlwind.

So much cramming, early mornings, 91 exams, and so much studying
It has been a grind.
For the most part 2 exams a week and 22 credits a semester
As horrible and as hard as it was, it was also a blast.

I have LOVED learning about the body.
I seriously love the human body so much.
We are all a walking miracle.
I cant help but to see Heavenly Father’s hand in our bodies every day.
I love that I am studying something that I am so passionate about and love.
But it feels so good to have this part of my academic carrier behind me.

By far the best part of my schooling has been my classmates.
They are the greatest people I have ever met.
They have helped me get through my exams, study for test,
made me laugh, and made it easy to come to class every day.

Each person has been such a great example to me.
They have pushed me to be a better PA and an all-around better person.
I have had so much fun getting know them all, and I truly feel like we are a family.
I realize that we are all going off in different directions but we will have a connection for life.
You get close to the people that you go through hard times together.
I love them all so much.
I am so excited for the next part of my schooling…Rotations.
I am a little nervous though.
I feel like I have studying for years and I am not sure if I know anything.
But I am excited for the challenge.
I can’t wait to actually see what I have been learning about for the last couple of years.

I just got my assiged to my first rotation and I am doing Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Its super intense but I cant wait to get into the OR.
Lets just pray that I dont pass out lol.

Just a couple of pics of some of favorite people

Jason's Big Day

My favorite thing about being back in Vegas is being able to go to my siblings things.
This last Saturday was a big one for my little brother Jason.

He ran cross country for Division.
He ran 3 miles in 16:10.
He was amazing.
Dust and I decided to run over to Shadow Ridge to see the race.
It was a beautiful day and great morning.
Then that night Jay went to his first school dance.
He went with the cutest girl and life long family friend Kara Ells.
These two looked absolutely adorable.
It was so fun to be able to help him get ready for his big date.
I love being able to  go to these events.
I am so glad that I live close to my family so that I can be apart of their lives.

Our First Home

We bought a house.
It is the cutest little house you have ever seen.
It’s the perfect place for us.
I feel so old though,
You start to feel like an adult when you have all of these bills rolling in.

I didn’t know buying a house was so complicated.
There are so many papers to sign, things to put in your name, and decisions to make.
Luckily we had an amazing real estate agent, Megan Albright, that made it so easy for us.
We have loved living with my parents and it has saved us so much money,
but it will be nice to have a place of our own again.
We are busy repainting and fixing up a few things before we move in.
It’s kind of overwhelming trying to decorate a whole house.
The paint color is completely stressing me out.
Who knew there were so many options.
And then you think you have found one you like and then you test it on the
walls at your house and its hideous.
Then the paint color changes from the morning to the afternoon.
But we think we have found one that we really like so we’ll have to see how it goes.
I also had absolutely no idea how much furniture cost
I looked through a couple of magazines for couches and rugs and decided that we will be going without a few things for a couple of years.
Lucky for us, my parents, in-laws, and grandparents have a few things that they are giving us.
Trying to move into a house during my last month of my didactic year, and in the middle of Dust’s semester has not been easy.
It’s been kind of crazy trying to figure all of this stuff out while still trying to cram for test’s on a daily basis.
But I have a break coming up before I start rotations so I can finally get some stuff done.
We cant wait to move into our home.

 Family Room
 Office
 Kitchen Table Area
 Kitchen

 Loft
 Bedroom 1

 Bedroom 2
 Master Bedroom
Master Bath

This is what the house looks like now.
We are remodedling, painting, and fixing it up as we speak.
I'll post pictures after it's done.

Utah Visit

I love any oppritunity that I have to go to Utah to visit my family.
So when my school gave us a couple of days off for Yom Kippur, I decided to go up with my mom.
It was the first time that we’ve seen Kaitlin since we dropped her off at college.
She was real excited for us to come up.
She was just excited to be able to get off of campus for a couple of days.

It was also a blast staying with the Calls.
The Call house is always a blast.
There is always something going on there.
We had so much fun staying up late, chatting, eating, and making cookies.

We had fun going up to Salt Lake for the day.
We went to the Relief Society broadcast.
It was Kaitlins first time.
We meet my mother in law, aunt, and cousin.
We had fun eating out after and enjoying the absolutely beautiful new City Creek mall.

The only thing that would have made the trip even better is if Dustin would have come.
But he had school, and unlike me he doesn’t get all of the Jewish Holidays off.
Hopefully at some point in the next year, Dust and I will get one weekend off together.

I love my family so much. I loved seeing my second family, cousins, sisters, friends, and family.

Jessie's Wedding/Birthday weekend

I know I say this a lot but I truly do LOVE weddings.
I just love being married and I want all of my friends to be married and happy too.
There is nothing better then finding the person you get to spend eternity with.
And I could not be happier for Jesse.
Her and Dave have been dating for a while and I am so glad that they finally tied the knot.

Her wedding was amazing.
It was filled with family, fun, and friends.
The best part though was spending time with best friends that I just do not get to see enough.
That is the one downfall of getting older.
I dont get to see my friends as much anymore.

We had so much fun catching up with the Weltes, Karly, Vanessa and Suz.
It was so good to see and hang out with them.
It was pure shambles.
Trying to get around in LA with 10 people in your party is craziness.
We almost got in a few car accidents, but we made it to everything on time, and no one got hurt lol.

We also got to meet Karly's sweet little baby Annie.
We were lucky enough to get to drive with them.
I could not get enough of this sweet baby girl.
I am not going to lie it, it made me real baby hungry.
I hope I am as cute as mom as Kars.

I just couldnt get enough of staying up late and just visiting
with my favorite people in the world.
It was the best weekend.

My Birthday
So Jesse got married on Saturday and my birthday was Sunday.
So we decided to celebrate it with our favorite restaurants in LA.
We LOVE food.
We ate at the most amazing bakery down by LA Live, had appetizers at our favorite Sushi place, and then ate dinner at Mama Di's.
We are ridiculous, but I couldnt think of a better way of spending my birthday.
I got to spend the rest of the day on the beach with Dust.
It was the perfect weekend.
